Rolla High School was recognized as North Dakota’s newest Vision Zero School on Monday, Oct. 5, during a student-led launch focused on distraction-free driving.
During the launch, students encouraged their peers to keep their attention on the road. Their message was simple: Notifications, messages and other distractions can wait until the vehicle is safely parked.
“Students have a powerful voice when they encourage each other to make safe choices,” said Kaitlin Atkinson, Vision Zero Outreach Coordinator. “Putting distractions away before you drive is one choice that can help protect your friends, your family and everyone else on the road.”
Rolla joined a growing list of Vision Zero Schools dedicated to eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries in North Dakota. Through the program, students will continue promoting safe driving habits among their peers.
