ND Sober Ride

ND Sober Ride, a Vision Zero program designed to remove impaired drivers from North Dakota roads, will offer discounted Lyft rides in the Fargo-West Fargo area during the Red River Valley Fair.

Beginning July 3, fairgoers and community members can use the code VZRRVF26 in the Lyft app to receive $10 off one ride. Discount codes will be available through July 12 or while supplies last.

The Red River Valley Fair is one of North Dakota’s largest summer events, drawing thousands of visitors to West Fargo each year. Whether attending a concert, enjoying the midway or spending time with your family and friends, making plans for a sober ride home is an important part of the experience.

“The Red River Valley Fair is all about bringing people together to create lasting memories,” said Sophia Thompson, marketing and partnerships coordinator for the Red River Valley Fair. “We’re proud to partner with Vision Zero and its ND Sober Ride program for a fifth consecutive year because no celebration is worth risking a life. By offering fairgoers a discount on their ride home, we’re making it easier to plan ahead, avoid driving impaired and helping to keep our roads and community safe.”

Driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs remains one of the leading contributors to serious and fatal crashes in North Dakota. ND Sober Ride helps provide a safe, convenient alternative for anyone who may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“Every impaired driving crash is preventable,” said Kelly Aberle, NDDOT Highway Safety Division program manager. “ND Sober Ride is one of the tools available to help people make a life-saving choice and support Vision Zero’s goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.”

The discounted ride codes are sponsored by AAA – The Auto Club Group. Organizations interested in supporting future ND Sober Ride campaigns can contact Vision Zero for sponsorship opportunities at kaberle@nd.gov

Each ND Sober Ride code is unique to a specific campaign period and may only be used once per user during that timeframe. Additional information and available ride codes can be found at VisionZero.ND.gov.

ND Sober Ride is part of the Vision Zero strategy, which aims to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.
